Meet The Rogues — Nadine Travers
Author Nadine Travers
Tell us a little about yourself.
I live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada with my husband and my two kids. I got three cats. I love to read all kind of book, sci-fi, epic fantasy, romance any kind, thriller. I love to do worldbuilding since I was a dungeon master and player of D&D.
I write in my second language; my native is French. I decided in 2014 to make the jump and I never regretted it.
When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Very young, when I left my town to move to another one when I was 10. Me and my friend decided to write letters to each other (the internet didn’t exist at that time) and we include a portion of a story. During that period, we were in love with Star War but she loved Luke and I was in love with Han. I think that you can say that was my first co-write. I decide that one day, I would be doing it.
Tell us about your main character.
Casey is a day walker in the vampire faction, in that universe, each faction (vampire, shifter, witches and other) have a section in Montreal but they also have a neutral zone, which they can do business between them.
Because Casey is a daywalker and doesn’t have any kind of blood allegiance or living parent, she’s part of the internal affairs in the vampire faction and needs to catch bad vampires or help solve cases between factions. She’s a badass and knows how to fight dirty, with not only her hands but swords and guns.
Who designed your book cover?
Christian Bentulan designed mine and I really love it.
What are you currently working on?
For sure I’m working on Casey which will be a stand-alone and prequel inside of a bigger universe which is called, Supernatural Intelligence Agency, which will prepare for the other books, Juniper and the Stone of Destiny.
Do you have a day job or are you a full-time writer?
I do have a day job, I’m an accountant by day. It doesn’t help a lot in my writing but what is helping me is in regard to the business side of the self-publishing.
What kind of books do you read in your free time?
A lot of different genres, thriller, sci-fi, action pack, all kind of different romance including erotica, epic fantasy, and urban fantasy.
Do you have a favorite book quote?
I’m a huge Dark Tower series fan by Stephen King, so one of my favorite book quotes is: “The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.”
Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
It is not easy, but if you work hard and be persistent, and learn your craft. Don’t give up and you will have success.
