Wizards Unite Is Enchanting The World
Shh, the Statue of Secrecy must not be broken…except there’s a big problem with that because if you’re a HUGE Harry Potter nerd like me, chances are you’ve already downloaded the new app Wizard’s Unite by Pokémon Go creator Niantic Labs!
And although according to the tweet below, the game wasn’t set to launch until tomorrow, many Potterheads awoke this morning to find the game available!
The worldwide launch of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite begins this Friday, June 21! Keep your eyes peeled and wand ready for more information as the game goes live in your region soon. #WizardsUnite pic.twitter.com/ckk4s4mi8a

As someone who’s been active in the fandom for decades now, I’ve acquired a long list of Potter friends, so my Facebook feed is full of screenshots and friend codes!
What Is The Game?
Wizard Unite is an augmented reality mobile game. It is available for both Android and IOS and is absolutely free to play, although there are options to buy special items in the game. Players view the game through their smartphone and can walk to different locations to find artifacts, interact with characters, and even stop at special locations like inns, greenhouses, and fortresses to replenish power, get potion ingredients, or battle enemies. You play as a ministry operative who has been tasked with locating and returning confundables, magical objects, and even people who have been scattered throughout the world by the Calamity.
So What Is It About This Game That Already Has So Many People Enchanted?
I feel it’s the nostalgia and the incredible premise of becoming a part of the magical world that J.K. Rowling has created.
Inside the app, you will be greeted by some familiar faces like Harry and Hermione. The timeline is set after the second wizarding war and the defeat of Lord Voldemort.
You can enter your Hogwarts House, wand details, and even take a cute photo with some wizarding world filters like witches hats and house scarves! There’s also the ability to brew potions and practice your wand work! The more you play, the more features you unlock, like professions and portkeys. You can also place the objects and characters you find in your registry, which is like a scrapbook of magical locations like Hagrid’s Hut, the Ministry of Magic, the Room of Requirement, Dumbledore’s office and more! There are also challenges, mysteries, and events to explore! And don’t forget your daily assignments!
What Players Are Saying About The Game
Haeli White says: What don’t I love about it?? It’s interactive, Danielle Radcliffe is Harry Potter, the fun Wizards Profile and you can get a career even! You can add friends, it actually gets me out of the house! I’m home ♥️
Amanda Perry says: “I’ve only been playing for about 15 mins but so far I’m digging the Dark Arts artifacts and the about me sheets.”
Emily Chau says: I really love how interactive it is— you actually have to use your camera to collect the Foundables etc.
Megan Chapman says: I like that it seems to take up less battery than Pokémon go.
